They will beat their swords into iron plows
and their spears into pruning tools. Nation will not take up sword against nation; they will no longer learn how to make war. - Micah 4:3 |

And here's another video, this one from Rocky Mountain PBS.
“…Every single gun fatality in America is a person born in God's image; a precious child of God; a brother or sister in God's human family; a neighbor whom God commands us to love; and one whose body is "a temple of the living God." Every religion in the world has a golden rule and the command: "Thou shalt not kill." …There is not another social movement with stronger biblical, theological, moral, and ethical principles than preventing gun violence.” |

As members and friends of Plymouth Church in Fort Collins, we have become increasingly aware of the public health, safety, and security concerns of gun violence in our nation. As Coloradans and individuals, we also know far too well the anguish of gun violence.
The statistics are staggering, not only for mass shootings such as the most recent, horrific shooting of elementary school children in Uvalde, but also for loss of life in domestic quarrels and suicide. Thank you for sharing our concerns that the time is long overdue for national legislation on background checks and other common-sense laws that would help keep guns, particularly high-powered automatic weapons of war, out of the hands of persons who would use them for harm. We hope that the legislative bodies of Congress find ways to hear one another on the issue of gun safety and come together to achieve unity of spirit for the good of this nation, especially its children, minorities, and immigrants, who far too often are the target of such violence. We urge you to continue to work toward progress in passing sensible gun safety legislation, especially to convince fellow legislators of the importance of gun safety in our nation. In peace and deep concern, Members and Friends of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Fort Collins |
