Join us in Fighting Housing Insecurity

For 18 years, the Sleepout has been a stalwart event in the life of Plymouth, our youth, and the Fort Collins community. Now dubbed "Youth for Change," the youth have decided to reform this event in hopes of broadening their reach and impact.

Saturday, January 13th at 4 p.m.
The community is invited to join us for education and spiritual practices that are intended to affect change in Fort Collins. The youth will be organizing a fundraising event that will invite voices from our community to teach on the complexities of homelessness in Fort Collins. We will have a community meal catered by FoCo Cafe, expert presenters, breakout discussions, and a silent auction. Presenters include:

• County Commissioner John Kefalas
• Poudre Library District
• The Family Housing Network
• Neighbor to Neighbor

High school participants are invited to stay the night in the church to help clean up and put together worship for the next morning. Registration is required for all attendees.

Sunday, January 14th at 10 a.m.
Join us for a youth-led worship service, a Q&A forum, and putting together care packages for unhoused pets.

What was the Sleepout?

The Neighbor to Neighbor Homelessness Prevention Sleepout was an annual event in which youth slept outdoors in cardboard boxes to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness in our community and gain empathy for the incredible challenges that homeless individuals face on a daily basis. As part of this event, youth also participated in an educational session focused on the complex nature of homelessness and its impact on both individuals and communities. Most importantly, the Sleepout was - and remains - a fundraiser for Neighbor to Neighbor’s Homelessness Prevention Program, which provides rental assistance to help keep local individuals and families in their homes.

Our Goals:

• We want to increase our own compassion for people facing homelessness through education and spiritual formation.
  
• We want to inform people in Fort Collins about the serious and often-overlooked problem of homelessness in Larimer County.
• We want to bring together people of multiple faiths towards a common cause.
• We want to do something physical to help: 
  • We want to raise money for the Neighbor to Neighbor's Homeless Prevention Program, a non-profit that provides rental assistance for people on the brink of homelessness.
    

Donation Information

Throughout the event, attendees will have the opportunity to donate money to Neighbor to Neighbor’s Homelessness Prevention Program. 100% of the funds raised are given to N2N.

Many families on the border of poverty are thrown into homelessness due to unexpected circumstances. N2N proposes to end that cycle by offering rental assistance. One of the large challenges as we tackle homelessness is ending the cycle. Thus, we have partnered with an organization that keeps people from falling into homelessness. And they boast great results! N2N follows up with clients, and, of those contacted, more than 90% are still in their own homes!
